Also known as the California Botanic Garden, Rancho Santa Ana and Botanic Garden is a beloved landmark in a remarkable neighborhood of Los Angeles, opposite to the North College. It is home to a million native Californian plants, cultivars and hybrids. There is a section for exotic flora from tropical, Mediterranean and desert climates too.
Spiced by the fragrance and hues of gray salvias, sages and lilacs, this garden is a hotspot of tourism, celebrating weddings, special events like Halloween, basket weaving and art exhibitions. The Rancho Santa Ana and Botanic Garden welcomes native birds too, making it an excellent site for nature lovers. You can bring plants of your own and culture them on designated beds with your name displayed, a fun activity you won’t find anywhere else in LA. The water features and picnic spot overlook the outwash lands of San Gabriel Mountains and have plenty of shady seating spaces. Sensory Garden is a public area of the garden where you can hold, smell and even taste plants like Sticky Monkeyflower. There is an active research center here offering weekend lectures and informative tours to visitors for promoting botany, horticulture and environment conservation.
