Recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Valley of the Kings is nestled along the west bank of the Nile. It contains 63 exquisite royal tombs belonging to Pharaohs, queens, high priests, and many others. Out of these 12 are open to the public. Tomb of Tutankhamun. Seti I and Ramses VI tickets should be purchased separately.
Inside the valley, you'll find a series of elaborate tombs carved deep into the rocky hillsides. These tombs are adorned with intricate hieroglyphics and colorful wall paintings that depict scenes from the afterlife. One of the most famous tombs in the Valley of the Kings is that of Tutankhamun, the boy king whose intact burial chamber was discovered by archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922. In addition to Tutankhamun's tomb, visitors to the Valley of the Kings can explore a multitude of other royal tombs, each with its own unique architectural features and decorative motifs. From the imposing corridors of Ramesses II's tomb to the beautifully painted chambers of Seti I's tomb, there is no shortage of wonders to behold in this ancient necropolis.
PS: In a single entry ticket to the Valley of Kings, one can choose any 3 of the available tombs for viewing except Tut’s tomb, the tombs of Ramses VI, and Seti I. Some of the open tombs and their numbers are:
