Comino is a little island in the Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea that lies amidst the Malta and Gozo islands. Comino is an idyllic spot for diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, and hiking. The main attraction on this island is the Blue Lagoon.
Comino island is known to have been inhabited during the Roman era by the farmers, but for prolonged periods in history, it has been scarcely inhabited, privately owned, or totally abandoned. the island covers a 3.5 sq km (1.4 sq mi) land area.The name Comino is taken from cumin seeds that were once grown in the Maltese islands. Notably, it is the least densely populated island in the Republic of Malta, with a persistent population of only two residents, after the demise of two other residents in 2017 & 2020. The island is part of the municipality of Għajnsielem in southeastern Gozo and is a car-free place featuring just one hotel. Comino and its azureous waters enchant visitors to visit this serene destination. Also, it is a nature reserve (Natura 2000 Marine Protected area) and bird sanctuary.
