Tunan Waterfall, Manado Overview

The Tunan Waterfall is one of the many waterfalls located in Sulawesi, with a height of 86 meters surrounded by lush green forests and a sheer rock face. The picturesque waterfalls flow into the narrow canyon present at the foot of the cascades, with misty water giving it a beautiful appearance.

Tourists can even enjoy swimming under the falls, but since the waters have a rocky bed and are only 1.5 meters deep, it is best advised to not go straight diving or jumping into the waters. The relatively unknown nature of the falls makes it an excellent place to visit for those that want to escape from the city and enjoy some solitude with their loved ones.

Important Information

Visitors must bring their swimwear or an extra pair of dry clothes to change into along with footwear that has good grip for walking on the rocky terrain.
Tourists should also carry some extra cash, as there are no ATM machines available near the waterfalls.
There are a number of food stalls available in and around the locality, but visitors can bring their own meals and drinks if travelling with small children.

How To Reach Tunan Waterfall

The Tunan Waterfalls are located at a distance of 22 km northwest of the main city of Manado which amounts to a 45-minute drive, and the falls can be reached from the parking lot in around 10-15 minutes on foot.
Visitors can also use public transportation from Manado or the Sam Ratulangi Airport, but it is best advised to rent a car at the average rate of 250,000 IDR per day or to book a cab to the location as public transport might not be easy to find around the locality.
Visitors who want to reach the waterfalls while enjoying the surrounding places can take a bus from Terminal Karombasan which heads to Dimembe.
From there tourists can hire motorcycles to reach the falls, which lies at a distance of 4 km from Dimembe.
