Teatro Amazonas was built in 1896 during the Golden Era of Manaus's history when the city was reaping the benefits of rubber boom. Materials were imported from Europe for construction of this theatre, its dome is tiled with German tiles and the magnificent Murano glass adorn its chandeliers. Regular theatre and opera performances takes place in this opera house which is also the host to the annual Festival Amazonas de ”pera in April-June.
