The Lowry theatre is a gallery & theatre complex that is a notable landmark situated on the banks of the Manchester Shipping Canal at Salford Quays in Greater Manchester, England. It also features a gallery, studio, restaurant, cafe, and souvenir shop.
The Lowry is a remarkable, award-winning building that incorporates two lively theatres, a studio space, a stunning art gallery, a café, a restaurant, and a souvenir shop at the heart of Quays. It operates as a not-for-profit organization and registered charity, whose all profit goes back into its operations.
This theatre is named after L. S. Lowry who was an early 20th-century painter famous for his paintings of industrial spectacles in North Western England. The complex features a 2,000 sq m area devoted to the gallery displaying a permanent collection of L. S. Lowry's work as well as other temporary exhibitions. The heart of the complex embraces the two theatres - the Lyric Theatre with 1,730 seats and the Quays Theatre with 466 seats. Both these theatres host plays, opera, dance, comedy, visual art, and musical events for the audiences.
