Located between the famous Jemaa El Fna Square and the Bahia Palace, the Dar Si Said Museum, now known as the National Museum of Weaving and Carpets, gives an insight into Morocco’s rich art, culture and history. The museum displays a wide array of jewellery, textiles, weapons, ceramics, carpets, and musical instruments from different periods of Moroccan national history.
The highlight of Dar Si Siad Museum is an ancient stone basin, built in the year 1000, making it an extremely rare and valuable symbol of Islamic art, placed right at the entrance. Apart from the fascinating interior of the building, enjoy a peaceful stroll in the beautiful courtyards and miniature gardens surrounding the museum. The palace was initially built in the late 1890s by the younger brother of Ba Ahmed, who ruled over Morocco at the time. It was converted into a museum showcasing various forms of art and woodcraft roughly in 1932.
