Jaigurudev Mandir, Mathura Overview

Also known as Naam Yog Sadhna Mandir, Jaigurudev Mandir is dedicated to Baba Jai Gurudev, located on the National Highway 2, between Delhi and Agra. The celebrated man is a revered guruji among the devotees and he also runs a charitable organization and ashram. The temple hosts an annual Bhandaar festival which attracts hordes of pilgrims.

The temple is managed by the Jai Guru Dev Ashram and they do not charge anything from the public for entering. Visitors seeking peace and enlightenment from all over the country converge at this temple to worship Guru ji who is believed to lead them to the path of immortality. It is not just pilgrims and devotees who visit this temple. The architectural beauty of Jai Gurudev Temple attracts many architecture buffs as well, who gather to see the temple that resembles Taj Mahal. Built of white marbles, with domed structures and minarets in the temple complex, it is based on Hindu architecture.

Baba Jai Gurudev

Baba Jai Gurudev is the God worshipped in this temple. He was the disciple of Pandit Ghurelal Sharma Ji in memory of whom he founded this temple. Baba Jai Gurudev was earlier named as Tulsidas Maharaj and was a revered religious leader in North India. Both Hindus and Muslims hailed him as a saint. He passed away at 2012 at the age of 116 (though the exact age is not known). He is worshipped in this temple and is known to liberate the humankind from the cycle of birth and death. His name is what bestows friendship, affection and peace among the people of the world and uplifts them spiritually. 

One of Baba's preachings stated that one should eat natural vegetarian food, to keep their soul pure and pious. He advocated his disciples to avoid non-vegetarian food and alcohol. Baba believed that mankind has 5 weaknesses namely, lust, anger, greed, attachment and egoism and we must introspect ourselves and rise above these to return to our original home, void of pain and misery. He preached that we, humans are made of 5 elements - earth, fire, water, air and sky. Baba took Samadhi on 18 May 2012 at his ashram. 

How To Reach Jai Gurudev Mandir

One must first reach Mathura and then take a local bus or cycle rickshaw to reach Jai Gurudev Temple. Pilgrims also choose to reach the temple on foot. A convenient option is to hire a private vehicle such as a taxi.
