Bilu Island, also called Ogre Island, is located close to Mawlamyine in Mon State in Myanmar. It is known for its green scenic landscapes consisting of palm trees and paddy fields, and small hills surrounding communities. Bilu is a sizeable deltaic island inhabited by more than 20 million people spread across 78 villages. The island is also known for its rich Mon culture, and their occupations, including the production of handicrafts, handmade items, wooden crafts, rubber cultivation, tobacco, fibres and fabrics made of cotton and silk. A recently built bridge connects Bilu Kyun to the mainland, and now travelers can rent a motorbike or a taxi to make a trip on their own.
