Mersin Museum of Archaeology, Mersin Overview

The Mersin Museum of Archaeology showcases the history and culture of the region. It features a collection of archaeological artifacts and exhibits, including ancient Greek and Roman artifacts, ceramics, coins, sculptures, and more. Highlights of the museum include a collection of ancient mosaics.

There's a well-stocked library to dive deeper into the country's past. The two-story building also comprises a children’s playground, conference room, and market. Glass windows project shapes of water drops, fishes, and amphoras which is quite interesting. Glassware, sea creature fossils, clothing, and utensils are displayed on the first floor. The inscription in black marble is one of the museum's most significant pieces. The museum's Islamic antiques area features Turkish clothing, possessions, and weaponry on display. The upper floor also showcases sculptures and column capitals from Soli Pompeipolis. When you visit the coins section, coins from different civilizations that ruled over Mersin in the past will want you digging deeper!
