The Milos Mining Museum was built to preserve the rich history of mining on Milos Island, dating back to 7000 BC. It is located at Adamas Port. It has three floors and a museum shop for souvenirs. A collection of ancient artefacts made from territorial rocks is also on display. The museum is a must-visit for geology and mining enthusiasts.
The ground floor holds exhibits displaying mining photographs, paintings, maps, and instruments. The first floor is dedicated to samples of various fossils, rocks, and minerals found on Milos Island, such as sulphur, manganese, and millstones, to name a few. The museum was constructed in 1198 and has two basement rooms for multimedia presentations and programs. The Abandoned sulphur mining site on Thiorichia Beach is located close. It is a must-visit for a first-hand view of Milos’s mining history.
