Plaka, Milos Overview

Plaka is the capital town of Milos, famous for its narrow streets with picturesque Greecian whitewashed houses. The Plaka hilltop is home to the Venetian Castle of Milos and two churches, Panagia Thalassitra and Panagia Korfiatissa. Hiking up to the hilltop is a popular activity amongst tourists.

Plaka’s war museum is an underground war museum with a memorial and war relics depicting Milo’s role in the two world wars. The Archaeological Museum of Milos and Sand museum are other interesting museums recording the rich art, history, and culture of Milos. Enjoy a stroll or swim in the clear turquoise waters of Plathiena beach, not far from Plaka. Several local restaurants are serving traditional Greek food.
