The building is located at the intersection of 18 de Julio Avenue and Plaza Independence, in Montevideo. It was designed by the architect Mario Palanti. The building was finished in 1928.
This building offers everything one can think of- a cinema to a hotel- everything. The palace was topped with a lighthouse and a parabolic mirror of 920mm, but later the light was removed in favour of an antenna that gave the 27-floor building its eventual height of 100m. The palace was initially made as a luxury hotel but was not able to be managed and thus was forced to shut down. And is now a very elaborate collection of private residence and offices.
