Moscow Cathedral Mosque, located on Olimpiysky Avenue near the Olympic Stadium in central Moscow, stands as the city's main mosque and one of the largest in Europe. Originally constructed in 1904, the mosque underwent a significant reconstruction and was reopened in 2015. It now accommodates over 10,000 worshippers, featuring minarets reaching 72 meters in height and a central dome standing at 46 meters.
The original mosque, designed by architect Nikolay Zhukov, served Moscow's Muslim community for over a century. In 2011, the aging structure was demolished to make way for a larger, more modern facility. The new mosque was inaugurated in 2015, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other dignitaries attending the opening ceremony.
