Also Refered As:Muang Khua is a small town located in the Phongsali Province in Northern Laos. It is a transit town between Udomxai town - the border town of Vietnam in the south and Ban Samphanh in the north. Located on the banks of the Nam Ou river, Muang Khua is known for the serene village life that can be explored by trekking. Tourists wanting to relax by the river and trek should visit this town.
Walk over the wooden suspension bridge - A wooden bridge built over the Nam Phak river is one of the attractions in Muang Khua.
Hiking in the villages - There are one, two and multiple-day hikes of varied difficulties that can be done to the nearby communities. You can book these treks at the tourism centre, which is located in the town centre, open from 8 AM to 5 PM. Alternatively, you can book these hikes also via your hotels.
Boating - Boating in the Nam Ou river is one of the things to enjoy in the town. The boat trips cost between 10 to 30 USD, which can be directly booked at the pier. You can also go swimming or rent Kayaks from the small shops for about 2 USD per hour.
There are only 2 ATMs and two currency exchange centres in Muang Khua. It might be better to stock up on cash beforehand.
Accommodation options are limited in the town and can get booked during the hiking season. It is recommended to book hotels and guesthouses in advance.
