Suraj Water Park, Mumbai Overview

Suraj Water Park is a theme park in Thane. It was conceptualized by Arun Kumar Muchhalla who is the chairman of Muchhalla Magic Land Pvt Ltd and the owner of the water park. White Water West Industries, Canada designed this theme park over 11-acre land in the city. This park has the longest tunnel in the continent which is made using fibreglass. It has a museum where there are a number of genuine ancient locks. The water park also has 16 slides, including a rainbow slide, a waterfall which is Asia’s largest artificial waterfall and a village themed section called Surajgadh. The park also has locker facilities (rent and deposit charges are applicable) where visitors can keep their belongings.

The themed décor at Suraj Water Park consists of an unusual combination of Traditional and Modern Technology. As soon as the visitors enter, they are greeted by two humongous mermaids on either side of the entrance. As they proceed, they would come across idols of Lord Shiva and Lord Natraj before they head to the thrilling rides and slides. With these features, the water park subsequently gained entry into the Limca Book of Records in 2006 and bagged six different awards including “Pride of Maharashtra” Award by the Department of Tourism, Maharashtra (1999), “Resort of the Year” (2001) and the “International Golden Pony Award” (2001).

History and Architecture of the Park

This captivating water recreation was developed and created by the Chairman of Muchhala Magic Land Pvt. Lmt., Mr Arunkumar Muchhala. Spread over a wide area, it lies at about 5 kilometres from Thane. It is India’s largest cave made of fibreglass, and it is no wonder that it has bagged several national and international awards.

On passing through massive mermaids in the entrance, it has a beautiful mountain of fountains which sprays water, making it all the more welcoming. The traditionality is itched over the large cave made of fibreglass which has gigantic idols of Lord Shiva and Lord Nataraja. Then comes the exciting and challenging part of the park, the water rides. All the rides have a touch of adventure to it, creating an adrenaline rush. The water park also has a food court where there are a variety of foods available. Although the quality of food is not that great, it is good enough for a quick munch. Also, locker facilities are available, which are chargeable.

Best time to visit Suraj Water Park

The best time to visit the water park would be in the months of January and February when the climate is neither too hot nor too cold. The pleasant weather makes the experience all the more enchanting. However, considering the humidity in Thane during April and May, visiting the water park during this time would also be very soothing. It can be one of the ways to chill and escape the heat of summer.
