Eisbachwelle is a human-made wave which has been surfable since the last 40 years, is a very famous spot among the surfers, spectators and photographers. Located on the southern edge of the English Garden near the Haus der Kunst museum, Eisbachwelle is considered one of the urban waves in the city.
The wave has been adorned by various international and local surfers like world champion Robby Naish. The English Garden, with a stretch of about 375 hectares, is Europe's largest urban park. One can enjoy scenic views from Monopteros (a small temple-like structure), relax at the Chinese TowerTower, sit along the banks of Kleinhesseloher lake or could savor the German delicacies at the famous Seehaus restaurant. The garden is a perfect haven for all hobby athletes having a perfect paved path of about 78 kilometers for cycling and jogging. One can also enjoy other recreational activities like paddle boating, soccer, yoga or even frisbee throwing. The garden's wide expanse also makes it a famous place for leisure stroll or sunbathing among the tourists. The garden also hosts various open air concerts such as the Kocherlball and Japanfest in July and Christkindlmarkt at the Chinese Tower in December with various national and international artists showcasing their talent.
