The Mykonos Folklore Museum displays antiques like sculptures, pottery, model ships and other items from the 19th century. It is located in the Kastro neighbourhood close to Paraportiani. The museum has six exhibition halls which display hand-woven fabrics, antique furniture, traditional musical instruments, historical plates and prints, locks and keys, and a fine collection of paintings. It also has a typical 19th-century kitchen and bedrooms perfectly arranged with vintage furniture and oil lamps.
The Folklore Museum was founded in 1958 and is housed in a two-story building that belonged to a captain of the 18th century. Visitors also find the informative guide through the area’s history of much help.
