The Monastery of Paleokastro is an 18th-century nunnery located in the second village of Mykonos, Ano Mera. It is a peaceful getaway with picturesque views. The monastery is known for its Cyclidian architecture with a grand-looking altar and a small museum containing religious icons, church old relics, priest's robes, communion chalices, and old bibles.
The name of Paleokastro Monastery has been derived from the close remains of Giza castle, also known as Paleokastro (the word Paleokastro means old castle). Near the monastery is the Church of Agio Vlassis which features a prehistorical burial monument, 3-meter-high granite rock from sea level.
