Paraportiani Church, Mykonos Overview
Dating back to the 1400s, the Paraportiani Church faces the sea and stands tall in all its glory at the entrance of Chora. Its name translates to "Our Lady of the Side Gate" in Greek, since its entrance was near the side gate of the way to the Kastro. Recognized as a national monument and an epitome of Cycladic architecture, the church consists of five little churches crammed together, four below and one above, which accounts for its asymmetrical design.
