There are both cabs and buses to go from Delhi to Nainital. The drive is beautiful. Within the city, walking is good enough, as it is very small. Hotels are available for all budgets.

Take Hapur bypass starting from Delhi >Hapur > Moradabad bypass > Rampur > Lalkuan > Nainital. This road is fine except some pot holes after Moradabad till Rampur. For about 20 km you gave to go slo (Read More)w and watch the road very carefully, rest of the road condition is awesome. Another alternate route is Delhi > Hapur > Moradabad > Thakurdwara > Kaladhungi > Nainital. This is longer by about 30-35 km, but the road is smooth. Never take the Tanda > Kaladhungi road, as there is no road for a stretch of 25km.

Nainital used to be an annual weekend getaway back when I was a child as it was only driving distance from my grandmother's place. It is a quintessential hilltop which has every element to for me to (Read More)unwind. There's a plethora of things to do and places to visit. I started my trip with a serene boat ride in the Naini lake which is surrounded by seven majestic mountains. Next up, I took a tour of the Ropeway to have a breathtaking view of the snow-clad Himalayas. For me, familiarising myself with the Tibetan culture was a one of a kind experience. The best way to do that is by taking a stroll in the flea market spread across the banks of Naini lake. This is where your bargaining skills will come into play.

The best part about being in Nainital is that you get to absorb into the atmosphere and let yourself feel fresh and free. Famous for its boating and water activities like paragliding, rope climbing, river crossing and yacht riding, Nainital makes you feel at home and offers you to feel alive. Bhimtal, Saattal and Naini lake offer you an opportunity to row the boat and view the beautiful green white mountains while you let yourself enjoy in the lake. The gun point in Nainital is the perfect destination to visit to if you want to have a wider and better view of the hills and the ancient structures and palaces. The Naina Devi Temple is surrounded by waters and the cool breeze moving across the place makes you want to sit there for long. The Tibetan market in the main streets of Nainital is perfect for hot steaming momos, authentic Tibetan food, fresh fruits and juices, shopping coloured buntings and delicate glass earrings and beaded necklace. If you love taking gifts for your family back home, you should visit the Mall Road and buy antique showpieces, wind chimes, wooden key chains, umbrellas and caps and scarves. Situated in the lap of Uttarakhand is the lake city of Nainital. My day in Nainital began with the breathtaking view of the sparkling Naini Lake with mountains surrounding it. The view looks straight (Read More) out of a magnificent painting. There are lots of things to do near the lakes of Bhimtal and Sattal, the two must-visit lakes in the city. If you are in Nainital, you can take a ropeway to Snow View, which is the best place to go with family. Since I am an adventure buff, I loved the Nainital zoo and Cave garden. You can also learn rock climbing there. I took a mini trek to the China peak, which made me feel so close to nature. You get to pass through the Deodar and Pine forests. When in the Mall road which is in the heart of the city, make sure you shop at the little Tibetan shops. You can also get a desi head massage there. If you are planning a romantic weekend getaway or honeymoon, Nainital is the place for you. One can just sit by the lakeside and feel the tranquillity.
