The Pelham Bay Park, situated in Bronx, New York, is the largest in the city at 2,765 acres where one can enjoy activities like fishing, golf, and hiking. It is well known in New York for its scenic landscapes.
One of the biggest attractions of the park is its 115 acre Orchard Beach which is Bronx’s only public beach. The beach consists of snack bars, souvenir stands, a pavilion, two playgrounds, and 26 courts for sports.The park also has a play area for kids.
The NYC park has two wildlife sanctuaries within its premises. The Thomas Pell Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the western part of the Pelham Bay Park is home to a variety of animals like raccoon, egrets, hawks, and coyotes. Hunter Island Marine Zoology and Geology Sanctuary is located to the north of Orchard Beach and has glacial erratics and large boulders, which are rare in the city of New York.
