The fourth largest lake in Florida, Lake Apopka, covers 30000 acres. It is a perfect destination to spend a few hours in peace and calm. Hiking, bicycling, boating, and canoeing are some of the activities that can be engaged in at the lake.
It was once the bass-fishing capital in Eastern U.S, however, it still has fishes like brown bullhead, black crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow bullhead, etc. While you are at Lake Apopka, you can also visit the 11 mile Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive which should be left by all vehicles by 5 pm. There is a wide array of birds and animal species in the entire driveway which can be spotted at any time, so keep a check, you might be lucky enough to spot something. Are you a hiking enthusiast? The lake will surely not disappoint you, as there are loop trails as well as hiking trails that are organized which provides opportunities like horse riding and wildlife viewing.
Disability- Friendly : Wheelchairs are available at the lake
