Panchtarni

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape near Pahalgam, Panchtarni stands out as a haven for campers and pilgrims alike. As the final helicopter drop point for the Amarnath Yatra, Panchtarni marks the beginning of a 6-kilometer trek that pilgrims undertake on foot or by mule to reach the sacred temple.

The name "Panchtarni" translates to "five streams," referring to the five confluences of rivers that meet at this sacred site. Pilgrims often perform rituals and prayers at Panchtarni before continuing their journey to the Amarnath Cave, which houses the naturally formed ice lingam representing Lord Shiva.
