The walking street on Chaisongkran Road and Rungsiyanon Road in Wiang Tai, which comes alive as a night market after sunset, is the beating heart of Pai. Set against cloud-covered peaks on the horizon, this street is ideal for a relaxed stroll, shopping at local stores and boutiques at low prices, getting massages at parlors, and enjoying the traditional cuisine at roadside shacks and restaurants.
During day time, Pai Walking Street is fairly quiet and peaceful. It is visited by tourists for breakfast, lunch, or casual coffee dates. At night, the street transforms into a large market shortly after sunset. Vendors selling clothes, accessories, bags, jewelry, shoes, handicraft items, art pieces, and souvenirs line both sides of the road. Pai night market stretches for 1 km and takes around half an hour to explore all the stalls.
The night market also includes several stalls serving authentic street food delicacies of Thailand, like the iconic Khao Soi, fried seafood on sticks, grilled meat, momos, dumplings, gyozas, glazed donuts, sushis, white sheet rice, noodles, marshmallows, and many more. Later at night, the bars and pubs on the street draw crowds owing to their happy hour rates and live DJ music. Pai Walking Street also has several hotels and hostels right on the road, but you can expect the price to be slightly higher because of its peak location.
Additional Information : The street is closed off during the night for the night market. If you take your two-wheeler or four-wheeler, you will have to park it at a distance.
