Located in the south-western part of Mauritius, opposite to the popularly known 7 Coloured Earth of Chamarel, the Curious Corner of Chamarel is only one its kind in the entire island. It is a house full of mysteries, illusions, mind games and various other activities meant to excite the curious minds of the people. The mystery house is located on the hilly roads of Chamarel village and has been constructed with the primary objective to offer an enthralling experience for those with an intrigued mind.

Spread across an area of 5000 square metres, the Curious Corner has nearly 40 exhibits. It takes at least an hour and a half to enjoy all the demonstrations uninterruptedly. The Curious Corner is a world of optical illusions, and puzzles making it a favourite for the fact of it being a fun-filled social excursion for families and friends.

How To Reach Curious Corner of Chamarel

In order to avoid any confusion, can go to Chamarel by public buses and following that, hire a taxi to go to the Curious Corner, Otherwise, for bit costlier alternative, booking a taxi all the way to Chamarel from any part of the island is also an option.

Monday - Sunday: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
No age restrictions for the visit as such.
Entry fee for adults: EUR 10
Entry fee for children between the age 3 to 12 years: EUR 6

Mirror Maze

It is a challenging venture for the mind and body. The Mirror Maze is an amalgamation of infinite reflections, secret corridors and outstanding light effects that always makes you question your mind as you find yourself surrounded by 200 mirrors. This complex entanglement is a result of the combination of concave and convex mirror which disturbs your sense of orientation.

Ames Room

It is a cube-shaped room altering the size of the two people standing inside it, making either one of the smaller or more significant than the other one. The Ames Room serves an ideal photographic opportunity for family members, partners or friends, and capture this illusion of who is stronger than whom.

Upside Down Room

If experiencing zero gravity has been in your bucket list, you can tick that off at the Upside Down room of Curious Corner. This room lets you defy gravity and have an upside-down point of the world as you explore the kitchen, dining room and living room and other fine details that make this room just perfect.

Laser Music Room

For those with a knack for music can experiment with their skills in the elegant combination of sound and light in the Laser Music Room. On touching the colourful laser lights, the sound is created and who knows you might end up with a beautiful musical piece.

Corner Cafe

Offering refreshments, smoothies and snacks to the visitors, the Corner Cafe is a beautiful setting in the open garden in the vicinity of the Curious Corner. You can still enjoy the exploration as the illusions resume into the grounds as well.
