Crystal Palace Gardens, Porto Overview

Crystal Palace Gardens is a beautiful park in Porto offering panoramic views of the Douro River and the city skyline. It features winding paths, fountains, sculptures, and themed gardens, including the Rose Garden and Aromatic Garden. Visitors can stroll through lush greenery, spot peacocks roaming freely, and spot several viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Douro River, Arrábida Bridge, and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Designed in 1865 by German architect Émile David, these gardens were originally created to complement the now-demolished Crystal Palace, which was replaced by the modern Super Bock Arena. The gardens are divided into several themed areas, including the Rose Garden, Aromatic Garden, and Garden of Feelings, each with unique landscapes and plant varieties. Fountains, sculptures, and tranquil walking paths add to the serene ambiance, while peacocks and other birds roam freely. There are several viewpoints (miradouros), offering stunning photo opportunities of Porto’s skyline and the Douro River.
