The area was declared a bird sanctuary in 1972 under the Wildlife Protection Act and has ever since become one of the most popular tourist spots in the region. Among the diverse variety of avifauna species that you can spot here that include both rare and exotic birds, the most popular ones include bar-headed geese, greater flamingos, pink storks, magnificent raptors, spotted sandpipers, black-tailed godwits, Goliath herons, black-headed ibis and northern pintails shuffle.
