The Haidakhan Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman, and was built by Haidakhan Babaji himself, who is considered to be a “mahavatar”, or the mortal manifestation of Lord Shiva. The Haidakhan Temple sits proudly atop a hill at Chiliyanaula near Ranikhet, hosting a panoramic view of the mountains of the Shivalik Hills. Most people visit the temple to get married, according to Indian traditions. One must visit the temple during Navratri, which is celebrated with gusto here.
The Temple is 4.5 kms from Ranikhet Bus stand, a small trek is in order to reach the temple, which is why the monsoon months (June-August) must be avoided. One can peacefully meditate amidst the surrounding hills. There is no entry fee, and the temple opens each day from sunrise to sunset.
