Established in the early 19th century, Dhayah Fort is an ancient building located at a strategic position as a defensive military tower. Made out of mud and brick, this fort has served as a site of last battle between the local tribes of the area and the British soldiers in the year 1819. One can still see the almost ruined fortification on the south direction of the hill.
The building is around 18 kms north of Ras Al Khaimah city off the Al Rams Road. One has to climb the steep zigzag staircase to reach the top of the fortress, which is well worth with the panoramic view of the surroundings. The view of the Hajar Mountains, green date-palm oasis and the city area is breathtaking.
