Djupalon Beach is one of the most spectacular black lava pearl beaches in Iceland. It is an arched-shaped bay with peculiar rocks, extremely black sand, extraordinary coast rocks and black pebbles. Though it is well-known for its rock formations, one needs to be mindful of its raging waves.
Many tourists prefer walking along the beach and taking photos at the beach. Many also opt for a hiking trail here which is a fun leisure activity. One can even get splendid views from all points of this beach. The name of this beach originates from the lagoons found in the area of Djupalon. There are also remains of a 1984 British shipwreck. Currently, the bay is deserted, but at one point of time, it use to be home to 60 fishing boats and was one of the most active fishing communities on the Snaefellsnes peninsula.
