An extensive collection on the maritime history of Netherlands, Maritime Museum showcases more than 850,000 artefacts and models. A truly top collection, including models, ships and technologies over the years which have contributed to maritime activities of the country.
A collection of supreme importance is the Masterpieces exhibition. Every item, as the name suggests, is here because it once played a hugely revolutionary part in the field of shipping. The motaro ship is actually the oldest model ship in all of Europe. Other items includes actual shipping charts of the East India Company, a journal which reveals all of Portugal's secret maritime activities of the 16th century. The open-air Maritime Harbour was added to the Maritime Museum in 2014, and contains real life boats, vessels, and parts of historic ships. For kids, Professor Splash is an interactive, brilliant and fun educational trip into this fascinating side of the country's history.
