Diving is amongst the most popular adventure sports in Rovinj. There are numerous diving centres throughout the archipelago of Rovinj. Divers can prepare themselves, getting lost in the aquatic flora, fauna, ruins, shipwrecks, reefs, caves and walls is an unmissable experience while in Rovinj.
A few famous diving locations one can explore include the Lim Shallows, Islands of Figarola, Rubini Reef, Saline Coast, Banjol, etc. Several diving agencies in Rovinj have professional diving staff and internationally certified courses, instructors and gear. Diving safety of the highest standard is provided by the hyperbaric chamber available in Pula. Morski Puz Diving and Diving Rovinj d.o.o are some of the most well-known diving centres in Rovinj. One of the special dive points includes the Baron Gautsch shipwreck 9 nautical miles (16.6 km) from the coast of Rovinj at a depth of 39 metres.
Other important objective information : 1. Apart from organised shore and boat diving at various locations the centres provide bottle and lead for diving, paid additional meals and organised lectures and seminars.
2. Diver cards are required for all those who wish to dive. It costs around HRK 2400.
3. No special permit is required if diving with only a mask and flippers.
4. Diving here can be pursued all 365 days from sunrise to sunset.
5. Ports, sailing routes and the Lim Channel are the three locations where diving is prohibited. Also, diving within the 500-metre radius of the Baron Gautsch wreck is forbidden, unless part of a group led by clubs with proper authorisations.
6. Video recording/photography while underwater is allowed but please make sure you remove nothing from the seabed.
