Located in the heart of Salzburg, as a vibrant shopping street, Linzergasse is often regarded as the little sister of the Getriedegasse, It's boats rich history and houses buildings carved into the rocks, tunnels and is surrounded by stores and restaurants. It has been home to craftsmen and artists.
It is called Linzergasse because it was once the main road from Salzburg to Linz in Austria.Since Roman times, it has served as a main thoroughfare on the far side of the Old Town. The catastrophic city was set on fire in 1818 that destroyed the houses of 14th and 15th-century but later on, they were possibly restored.
The most prominent location at Linzergasse is St. Sebastian's Cemetery, famous for being the location of the Mozart family tomb. The other attraction starts from the stairway that leads us past the station of the Cross Up the Kupuzinerberg. Apart from this the location includes St. Andrews Church which was built in 1898, an old brewery and tons of shops.
