Stretching from Interstate 5 to Interstate 805, the Marian Bear Memorial Park is located in San Clemente Canyon. The park occupies a space of over 460 acres and offers a peaceful nook in the midst of an otherwise bustling city that envelopes it. From mesas to finger canyons, the natural parkland is home to a rich and diverse history that goes back to several decades. Named after Marian Bear, an environmental activist, this park supports several species of animals, including skunks, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, and coyotes, among others.
Over three miles of trails traverse along the canyon, each flat enough for a beginner who is looking for a gentle hiking trail. In addition, the Marian Bear Memorial Park also houses more challenging hiking trails along the finger canyons that lead up to the mesa tops. The two main entrances to the park are from Regents Road and Genesee Avenue, both offering parking joints, picnic areas, as well as restroom amenities.
The pristine Marian Bear Memorial Park has assigned a park ranger to offer guidance, public assistance, interpretive programs, and enforcement to the visitors. Pet owners may bring their dogs to the park, provided they are leashed. Overnight camping, glass containers, and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.
