The Mt Soledad is located on the coast of San Diego with the Pacific Ocean to its west. It is one of the most popular destinations for cycling tours which are either organized by groups or taken up by individuals. The major attraction here is the Mt Soledad Cross which is a gigantic white-colored cross located on top of the mountain and is rebuilt thrice and stands as an ode to the Korean War Memorial. The timely restoration of the cross has helped it survive with time. This peak is around 250m tall making the hike relatively simpler and less time-consuming.
One can see little houses all along the trail, these being locally known as the ‘Munchkin Houses’. The miniature houses are built on the steep slopes overlooking the ocean by little people and hence the name. There are many food stalls present on the way of the hike and one can get cycles rented on an hourly basis. It is situated in the La Jolla community and is just a drive away from there. It is also the last home lived by Dr Seuss and is popularly known as Seuss house as said by the locals.
