Sawantwadi, being a small town, does not have much to offer to a shopper. It is mostly known for its wooden toys, courtesy of a great wood industry. Here one finds himself embrace his inner child as wooden toy trains and life-like wooden models of fruits and vegetables hack every shop's display in town. Other items like wooden boxes and bracelets can also be found in abundance.
Raghunath Market of Sawantwadi houses some of the best Konkani handicrafts. The market is at least 150 years old and sells silver and bronze wares, jewelry and Kolhapuri chappals. It is also known for its collection of unique Konkani delights like Agul, Amla Juice, Kokum Sharbat and dried fish.
Another interesting feature of Sawantwadi is the special way in which the Ganjifa cards are played. This version is a three player game with the Dashavatar set containing 120 cards. The brightly painted box holding the cards also contains a pamphlet listing the rules of the game. So, one can also get these cards here.
