Deemed as one of the ‘urban lung spaces” of Hyderabad, Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam Deer Park is nature conservative park situated on Hyderabad-Warangal National Highway. It houses a wide range of flora and fauna, prominent among them being deer. One can easily spot different varieties of deer while taking a walk around the serene landscape of the park.

Park remains open for both, morning walkers and tourists. However, timings for both the two are slightly different as follows:

Walking hours- 5:00 A.M.-9:00 A.M.
Visiting hours- 11:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M.
Park is open on all days of the week.

Entry fee

Visiting ticket for adults costs INR 15 while for children (5-12 years) it costs INR 10.

Park also provides passes for regular morning walkers for their hassle-free regular visits which cost as follows:

Monthly pass: - INR 100
6 Months pass: - INR 400
1 Year Pass: - INR 800
If visiting the park in private vehicles, a parking ticket has to be bought which costs INR 5 per day for 2-wheelers and INR 10 per day for 4-wheelers.

Major Attractions of the Park

The park attracts a lot of local morning walkers because of its 4 kms long walking track inside the park amidst the lush green cover of trees. The park also houses recently opened Canopy walkway of 200 meters with iron mesh and railings on both sides, which has become a major attraction for visitors. A nature trail, meditation zone and well maintained terrain for cycling make it an ideal spot for fitness lovers. A watch tower has also been installed at the centre of the park, providing a majestic view of panoramic beauty and greenery. Besides, the park also exhibits a plethora of flora and fauna, much of the delight to nature lovers.

Wildlife of the Park

Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam is the house to a wide variety of wildlife such as deer, wild boar, small Indian civet, jungle cat, black hare and birds like peacock, grey jungle blabber, red vented bulbul, crow pheasant, tree pie, sunbird and many other migratory and local avian species. The park also manifests above 30 different varieties of butterflies and snakes, adding on to the rich wildlife of the park.

Major Floral Species of the Park

Sprawling over an area of 116 hectares, Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam acts as the “breathing lungs” for the people of Hyderabad with its variety of natural vegetation. The major species include Vepa, Kanuga, Ulintha, Rela, Tani, Jana, Gumpena, Yegisa etc which are widely used for medicinal purposes. The natural trail amidst the thick green mesh of these trees gives this place a popular name of “urban lung space”, as described by Forest and wildlife officials.

Geography of the Park

Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam, a wildlife park, was inaugurated by the then Forest Minister, Mr Jogu Ramanna on 10 October 2014. Comprising of a buffer zone of about 84.24 hectares and a conservation area of 116 hectares, the Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam houses a wide variety of natural vegetation and wildlife, especially deer. The park is situated at Narepally-1 RF on the outskirts of the city Hyderabad, on NH-163 or Hyderabad-Warangal national highway in Medchal district.

Additional Tips for Visitors

1. Smoking and consumption of tobacco are strictly prohibited inside the premises of Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam Deer Park.
2. Plastic and disposable items are not permitted inside the park.
3. It is advisable to bring your own food and eatables as you may not find any such options inside the park.
4. The park also has a cycling track, although, you are required to bring your own cycles.
5. Avoid tight attires and wear light-coloured comfortable clothes.
6. Fueled vehicles are not allowed inside the park.
7. Always carry a water bottle and first aid along with you, since no such facilities are available inside the park.
8. Littering the green spaces of the park is not tolerable.

How To Reach Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam Deer Park

The park is situated about 25 Kms away from the central city of Hyderabad, on the right side of Hyderabad-Warangal Highway (NH-163). It is about 15 Kms from Secunderabad, and it takes 22 minutes to reach there via Ghatkesar Road. However, the park is not very well connected through public transportation. Thus, travelling in private cars and cabs is recommended.
