A historical monument, the Liberty Monument was unveiled in 2014 to commemorate 38 years of Seychelles' independence from the British. The British-Seychellois artist- Tom Bowers designed the bronze monument of a man and a woman carrying the national flag. The grand edifice is located in Mont Fleuri on the Mahe island. Inaugurated by President James Michel, the statue represents the unity, patriotism and hope to be a tribute to those who dedicated their lives to freedom and also to the youth.
