The notoriously famous Blue Hole diving site is one of the most dangerous diving sites across the peninsula. It is a deep natural sinkhole surrounded by a vertical coral reef wall. It is located at a 10km distance from Dahab on the red sea coast. The site is famous for snorkelling and diving within its crystal-clear waters.
It gets the name due to a natural arch located deep within the diving site, resembling a blue hole. This arch is a dangerous zone for recreational divers without professional equipment resulting in several deaths over the years. The snorkelling and recreational diving areas are perfectly safe for travellers. There are several sea-facing restaurants specialising in seafood and local cuisine. A divers memorial is located close to the blue hole diving site. Travellers can enjoy other attractions in Dahab, such as kitesurfing, hiking, rock climbing, and more.
