Thistlegorm Wreck Diving, Sharm El Sheikh Overview

The Thistlegorm Wreck Diving site is one of the most popular diving sites of the Red Sea in the Sinai Peninsula. It is located 40 km from Sharm El Sheikh on the peninsula's west coast. The central attraction of the diving site is a sunken world war II cargo ship. The ship, which is split into two halves, is perfectly preserved at the bottom. Ruins of several jeeps, bikes, arms, and ammunition are spread within and across the ship.

Enjoy a scuba diving session amongst the rich coral reefs, fishes, and historic shipwreck. Its low depth of around 30m makes it an ideal recreational dive. The sunken ship was rediscovered by Jacques Cousteau in 1956. It sank after crashing into the coral reef.
