Situated on the banks of river Kaveri, Shivanasamudra is primarily a hydropower project location but has gotten massive attention for its stunning waterfalls: Gaganachukki and Barachukki. Travellers enjoy the view of waterfalls from the benches, and there are steps that take visitors to many levels of vantage points.
The Barachukki Falls cascades down from 250 feet with a U section resembling the Niagara Falls. The Gaganachukki falls is a brilliant sight especially after the rains when the River Kaveri is full.
There is paid parking available at the vantage point, and there are also some shops serving refreshments. However, there is a scarcity of restaurants near the vantage point.
The Ranganatha temple here, which attracts pilgrims. The Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary is another important attraction here and is popular if you go fishing and trekking.

CHUKKI MANE

A must-visit place for nature lovers for people in and around Bangalore is the Shivanasamudra waterfalls and the surrounding areas. This place is ideal for photography enthusiasts, trekkers, bird wat (Read More)chers, or anyone looking for a weekend getaway not far from the city. We found a very easy access holiday stay-in just a few minutes drive from the river Kaveri and the waterfall, the place is also just a few meters away from the main road, it is called ChukkiMane, a lush green vast expanse. It is a nature-friendly stay-in where the food is just lip-smacking tasty, they serve pure vegetarian, one of the best that we ever tasted. Even the story behind the coming into existence of this place is quite inspiring. We went for bullock cart rides, bird watching, nature walks, visited the organic farm and so many other activities. But, remember, this place is an eco-friendly sustainable set-up exclusively aimed to let visitors feel the rural way of living and so do not expect luxurious hospitality treatments. You can stay in the rooms or if you wish to experience camping they have the facility pitching tents as well. We took the tents and it was awesome. The walk around the campus of this place itself is so refreshing and rejuvenated us in so many aspects. So, if you plan to take a break, plan to visit this place at least once. "Link Hidden"
