The Religious Connection

At every point where the Kaveri splits, there is a Ranganathaswami temple (Avatar of Vishnu). The first one is located at Srirangapatna, the second and unique one at Shivanasamudram and the third at Tiruchirapally.

The one at Shivanasamudram is known as s the Madhyaranga and is the only one out of three to have a seven-headed snake behind Vishnu. The other temples have a five-headed snake. This temple belongs to the Chola period of around 9th Century AD, and the structure is well preserved till today. There are extravagant celebrations and a grand pooja held at this temple on the occasion of Vaikunth Ekadashi, the 11th day of the waxing moon in the month of Magha on the Hindu lunar calendar.

A must-visit place for nature lovers for people in and around Bangalore is the Shivanasamudra waterfalls and the surrounding areas. This place is ideal for photography enthusiasts, trekkers, bird wat (Read More)chers, or anyone looking for a weekend getaway not far from the city. We found a very easy access holiday stay-in just a few minutes drive from the river Kaveri and the waterfall, the place is also just a few meters away from the main road, it is called ChukkiMane, a lush green vast expanse. It is a nature-friendly stay-in where the food is just lip-smacking tasty, they serve pure vegetarian, one of the best that we ever tasted. Even the story behind the coming into existence of this place is quite inspiring. We went for bullock cart rides, bird watching, nature walks, visited the organic farm and so many other activities. But, remember, this place is an eco-friendly sustainable set-up exclusively aimed to let visitors feel the rural way of living and so do not expect luxurious hospitality treatments. You can stay in the rooms or if you wish to experience camping they have the facility pitching tents as well. We took the tents and it was awesome. The walk around the campus of this place itself is so refreshing and rejuvenated us in so many aspects. So, if you plan to take a break, plan to visit this place at least once. "Link Hidden"
