Ornithologists, rejoice! The most appropriate place for a bird lover in Shivpuri is the Karera Bird Sanctuary, situated about 55 km from the city of Shivpuri.
It hosts a lot of species of birds every year, both migrating birds and the ones who have Shivpuri as their natural habitat. The Karera Bird Sanctuary is host to the spectacular Indian bustard. The sanctuary also boasts of birds like spoonbill, heron, Indian robin, teal, pintail, egret and black-bellied river tern and is believed to host a massive 245 species of birds out here. That is not it, the Karera Bird Sanctuary, is apparently home to animals like tiger, leopard, elephant, monkey and wild cat also. The blackbuck and Indian gazelle are two of the rarest animals living in the Karera Bird Sanctuary
