The Greek Amphitheatre marks an ancient era in Side and is one of the largest in the Ancient Pamphylia region. A total of about 15,0000 to 20,000 people could once be accommodated in one sitting. Plenty of history and culture has passed through the amphitheatre over the years. Stop by just to observe the beautiful Greek architecture.
During the Roman ruling era, the arena was used for performances and gladiator or animal fights. Then in the Byzantine era, the amphitheatre was transformed into an open church with Christian proceedings being held. Today, there are many festivals, concerts and events held at the amphitheatre.
