Phare, the Cambodian Circus

Phare's artists graduate from Phare Ponleu Selpak, an art and theatre school located in Battambang, which specialises in training Cambodian youth to learn various acts, arts and skills required to become professional circus artists. Established about eight years ago, this institute has produced hundreds of young Cambodian artists, many of whom perform at Phare. More than 500 students give entertaining performances throughout the year on tours within the country. The young circus artists give stunning performances with their intense energy and emotion. 

The shows give a peek to Cambodian folk stories, rare traditions, culture, religion and popular beliefs of the locals which are performed through brilliant story-telling combining modern and traditional dances, themed-music and art forms including acrobats. Tourists can get a chance to see and know about the life of the people in Cambodia, their history and culture.

The tent housing the shows is well built with a modern outlook and comfortable seating arrangements. There is a small restaurant offering various cuisines and drinks at the venue.
