This form of transport is highly recommended for visitors as there is no direct bus or train that goes to Sigiriya. The distance from Colombo to Sigiriya by car is 175 kilometers and is reachable in 3 and a half hours. If you are going by taxi, the cost to go to Sigiriya from Colombo is between LKR 12,500 to 15,000.

Colombo to Sigiriya by bus

Although there is no direct bus connection to Sigiriya from Colombo, and if you don’t mind running around a bit to reach the beautiful destination, you can always opt for a bus ride. One downside to this option is that it would take an extra hour and a half more than the taxi journey. To get to Sigiriya, take the bus no. 15 to Anuradhapura and no. 48 to Kaduruwela and hail a tuk-tuk to Sigiriya from there.

2. Colombo to Sigiriya by Train

As mentioned earlier, there is no direct link to Sigiriya from Colombo. But, you can still take a train to Habarana, which is located 15 kilometers away from Sigiriya, and take a tuk-tuk ride to the destination.
