Independence Beach Activities
The beach gets its name from a 7-storey building Independence hotel which has been deserted for many years. Close to the beach on the northwest side, There is also a small freshwater lake, which is a source of water for the locals and home to crocodiles.
Throughout the length of the beach, there are grass umbrella shacks lined up, which provide a chance to relax and soak in the views of the coast.
The restaurants are famous for the seafood served in Khmer style.
You can go snorkelling, kayaking, take up paddle boarding and sometimes even surf in the Independence beach.
There are boat trips available to nearby islands like Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem.
Scuba diving is not available here, and you might have to go to Koh Rong for it, but you can enjoy all other beach activities here. Many shops are renting out the gears on an hourly basis.

How To Reach Independence Beach
Independence Beach is located about 8km from the downtown of Sihanoukville and takes about 30 to 45 minutes to reach. Speedboats and regular boats are available throughout the day, from the main pier, with the last ferry around 5 PM. It costs about 35 USD per person for a round trip. Group tours and day trips include pickup from the guesthouse and transportation and cost between 50 to 75 USD per person.
