Udaipur, Spiti Valley Overview

Located at the banks of the Chandrabhaga River, Udaipur is a charming and remote hamlet in the Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at an altitude of 2,743 meters and serves as a popular pilgrimage site for both Hindus as well as Buddhists. Nestled in the middle of lush green forests and beautiful scenic landscapes, Udaipur also serves as a famous camping and trekking site for adventure enthusiasts. Earlier Udaipur was known as Markul, however, now it is named after Raja Udai Singh of Chamba.

Best time to Visit

During the months of July to September, the temperature is ideal for visitors and is perfectly suitable for outdoor activities and sightseeing. The rest of the months face harsh winters and the roads are mostly inaccessible during this time, therefore it is best to avoid winter months while traveling to Spiti.

How to Reach

It takes a maximum of 5 hours to reach Udaipur from Spiti Valley. It lies at a distance of 225 km and is accessible via taxi or bus through the NH505 which offers excellent scenic views along the road.
