Erarta, St. Petersburg Overview

Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art is Russia's largest private museum dedicated to contemporary art. Established in 2010, it houses a permanent collection of over 2,800 works by more than 300 artists from across Russia, spanning various mediums such as painting, sculpture, and video art. It is widely known for for its dynamic exhibitions, immersive installations known as U-spaces.

Erarta is situated in a five-story building constructed in 1951, originally serving as the district committee of the Communist Party and later the Synthetic Rubber Research Institute. The museum's name combines "Era" and "Arta," translating to "the era of art" in Russian. The building's neoclassical Stalinist architecture provides a distinctive backdrop for its contemporary exhibits.
